Chapter 10 Astral Tides
Chapter 10 Astral Tides
Two days later.
Inside the rented house.
With his eyes closed, Viktor faced the empty desk and began reciting the entire "Ancient Rune Techniques Explained" backwards.
This book has far fewer words than the previous "Introduction to Alchemy," only a few thousand words, but the difficulty of fulfilling the devouring conditions is actually higher.
The main reason is that the content of this book is more obscure and difficult to understand, and many of the words are very rare.
Even with the equipment bar as a guide, Viktor could clearly understand the text on it, but it still took him a lot of effort to memorize it perfectly... Fortunately, he was in good condition this morning and successfully memorized it in one go.
The panel at the corner of the eye popped up, and a prompt was automatically given:
The requirements for equipping the "Ancient Rune Techniques Explained" item have been met, and the item's affixes have been permanently consumed.
The panel then refreshed:
Name: Victor Feltrow
Age: 17
[Bloodline: Human]
[Physical Fitness: 1.0]
【Spirit: 2.7】
[Skills: Morning Star Meditation {Beginner}, Hand of Myron {Beginner}, Blood Shield {Beginner}, Mana Blast {Beginner}]
[Skills: Basic Potions {Beginner}, Basic Alchemy {Proficient}, Ancient Rune Techniques {Beginner}]
Equipment slots {1:1}: None
[Activated entries: None]
[Entries already consumed: Breathing Healing Technique Lv1, Alchemy Genius Lv1, Rune Master Lv1]
......
"Finally, this term has been swallowed up too..."
Viktor was in a great mood when he saw that his equipment slots were empty again.
Because this means he can equip another item that can help him improve... As for what to equip this time, Viktor has naturally already made a plan in the past few days.
He stood up, took out a relatively well-preserved magic stone from his satchel, and placed it in front of him.
The next moment, the panel updated the information to show the effect of the magic stone:
[Equipable item detected: Mana Stone]
[Equipping this item grants the following attributes: Mana Refinement Lv1 — Increases maximum mana reserves by 50% and mana refinement efficiency by 50%]
[Requirement for absorbing equipment: Raise the proficiency of one meditation technique to 'Proficient']
[Select equipment?]
Victor equipped it immediately, glanced at the magic stone's absorption requirements, and opened the detailed page in the panel's skill bar:
【晨星冥想法{入门78/100}、麦伦斯之手{入门98/100}、血盾术{入门12/100}、魔能冲击{入门17/100}】
"With 22 more points of proficiency, my Morning Star Meditation technique will reach the proficiency level. Even if the progress of meditation is limited by meditation time, I can still complete this goal within two days."
"That means I can free up my equipment slots again within three days at most."
Viktor reached out and gently rubbed his cheek, frowning in thought:
"However, after consuming all the magic stones, I suddenly had no more equipment to choose from."
"Because I can't observe the panel for items that don't belong to me, I can't find the right ones for myself by checking them one by one."
"I actually need a stable source of special items. I can choose to buy them... but then I'll definitely run out of magic stones."
"But it's best if there aren't any empty slots in the equipment inventory... I guess I'll have to think of something."
Victor closed the panel in front of him.
I looked up at the bright sky outside the window, then tidied myself up and prepared to go to the college to do my work for the day.
But when he stepped onto the street, he noticed that the atmosphere in Morningstar City seemed somewhat different from usual.
The number of wizards on the street had increased significantly, and they quickly passed by him with excitement on their faces. The number of customers in the shops on both sides of the street had also increased significantly, and every shop was doing exceptionally well.
Even roadside stalls with ordinary business were surrounded by crowds, a stark contrast to usual.
These anomalies clearly indicate that something major has happened.
"But it seems like the potion shops and equipment shops are the ones doing the best business... What's going on?"
However, Victor also noticed some details. Not all shops were doing brisk business. Some shops were clearly just maintaining their usual level of activity, but the large number of people made business a little better.
As he pondered this, he quickened his pace and walked into the academy.
They found that even the academy was much more lively than usual, with a constant stream of apprentices heading towards the Star Tower.
Viktor was also interested in checking out the situation, but after thinking about it, he decided to go to the laboratory building first.
As it turned out, his idea was correct.
Nina didn't seem to be affected like most of the apprentices; when she saw Viktor approaching, she simply gave him a casual greeting.
Victor was more direct, walking over to ask:
"Senior Nina, I have something I'd like to ask you."
Nina was lounging in her chair reading a book when she heard Viktor's voice, without even turning her head.
"What is it?"
Victor spoke:
"On my way here, I noticed there were a lot of wizards on the streets today, and many shops were bustling with activity and doing very good business... Even within the academy, there were more apprentices who don't usually like to go out. Has something happened?"
Nina was clearly puzzled by the question, then put down her book, glanced at the time log on her worktable, and a look of realization flashed in her eyes:
"Oh, so that's what it is."
Victor looked at her speechlessly.
Nina smiled lightly, not embarrassed at all, casually tossed the book onto the table, stood up and said:
"You're a new apprentice, so it's normal that you don't know."
"From today until the next three months, it should be the astral tide that occurs once every three years."
"You probably don't know what astral tides are either, do you?"
"Simply put, it's a natural law of the celestial plane, just like the sun always rises in the morning and sets in the evening. Every three years, there are also celestial tides."
Viktor said he could understand:
"What exactly are the effects of this astral tide? Will it affect us?"
Nina shook her head:
"No, that's not it. Astral tides don't affect the wizards themselves; they affect the astral rules."
"You can understand it simply as the astral tides making it easier to break through the normally solid astral laws, and making it easier to cast space-based spells that are usually more difficult."
"But none of these are the most crucial."
"Most importantly, under the astral tides, the academy can use the Star Tower to capture some precious astral materials and small astral planes that are gushed out by the astral tides."
"Most of the wizards you saw were probably preparing to explore the astral plane and take a gamble."
"And if nothing unexpected happens, you should soon hear stories of wizards who, through sheer luck, stumbled upon a priceless alchemical treasure in an astral plane and rose to great heights..."
