Chapter 11 Runestone Tablets
Chapter 11 Runestone Tablets
Viktor suddenly realized.
He initially thought it was going to be a war... Turns out it was an exploration event in the wizarding world, no wonder only potions and such were doing well.
Thinking of this, he shook his head:
"I see... Looks like it has nothing to do with me."
Unexpectedly, Nina denied it:
"Of course it's related, how could it not be?"
Viktor was somewhat surprised:
"Is it related...? Could it be that the academy forces its apprentices to explore astral planes?"
"Of course not... the academy wouldn't bother with that."
Nina shrugged:
"However, if nothing unexpected happens, the academy will also issue some missions to explore the astral plane... You probably haven't accepted any academy missions yet, have you?"
Viktor nodded and said with a wry smile:
"Of course not, senior... I've only just learned two spells, how could I possibly complete the tasks assigned by the academy?"
Nina smiled:
"Your progress is quite good. Most apprentices need at least a year before they gradually start taking on academy tasks."
"The academy won't force a newly enrolled wizard like you to complete any tasks, and even if it does, it's probably completely safe."
Victor sighed:
"I think I should focus on dealing with the immediate issues first..."
Nina snapped her fingers:
"That's right."
So don't worry about it, just be yourself.
Viktor nodded again, indicating that he understood.
However, he was also curious about the astral materials Nina had mentioned... because, according to her, those astral materials seemed to be rarer than ordinary materials, so could he equip himself with these astral materials?
That's something to look forward to... but for now, let's start class!
......
Alchemy proficiency increased (↑)
An hour later.
The notification appeared in front of Viktor's eyes again.
Perhaps because he had just replaced and repaired several production alchemical golems, today's troubles were less than the previous two days. It took Viktor about an hour to help Nina get things sorted out.
Based on the experience gained over the past few days, barring any unforeseen circumstances, these two production lines should be able to operate smoothly for at least another day.
Nina clearly had something to do, whether it was related to the astral tides or not, but after finishing her business for the day, she gave Victor a few instructions and left the laboratory building.
Viktor was the only one left there, but he wasn't idle.
After several days of studying alchemy, he had gained a certain understanding of the subject. Most importantly, with the help of the "Rune Master lv1" entry, he had indeed gained a better understanding of ancient runes.
The idea of improving the alchemical golem runes that I had thought about before resurfaced in my mind.
Of course, Viktor wasn't so arrogant as to think that he could modify the alchemical golem just because he understood a little about the runes. So what he was supposed to do was try to see if he could make some influence on the runes himself.
However, Victor soon realized that he had been too simplistic in his thinking.
These runes truly represent advanced knowledge that only formal wizards can learn. At most, the magic power of a low-level wizard apprentice could only cause some confusion in the magical structure of the runes.
But when it comes to making specific modifications, it's like an ant running headfirst into a wall; it can't budge an inch.
Unfortunately, after trying for an hour, I still didn't get any results.
Viktor stood up, stretched, and was about to rest for a while when he suddenly heard a cold voice behind him:
"Are you trying to modify the runes?"
Viktor was startled, and cold sweat broke out on his back.
But then he remembered who the voice belonged to, quickly calmed his racing heart, and turned around with a respectful expression on his face:
"Yes... mentor."
Manugs's brow furrowed unusually as he stared at Viktor's face:
"Have you studied runes before?"
Victor quickly shook his head:
"No, mentor."
"How did you manage to... influence the rune structure I designed?"
Manugs's gaze fell on the alchemical golem parts engraved with runes on the table behind Viktor, which had clearly just been replaced:
"You... your name is Victor?"
"Yes...yes!"
The pressure increased abruptly with Manuggas's words, and Viktor broke out in a cold sweat. Knowing he couldn't hide anything, or things could get very bad, he quickly explained:
"Mentor, it was Nina who recommended a book called 'An Introduction to Ancient Rune Technology' that I read. I learned the knowledge from that book, and just now I had an idea and thought I'd try it out myself..."
A Brief Explanation of Ancient Rune Technology?
Manugs's eyes shifted slightly again, because the author of this book was none other than himself.
After he became a certified rune master, he wrote down his own experience and technical summary, which was compiled into this book... The book does contain a lot of knowledge and insights about runes, but it is based on his level of understanding and summarization. What can a low-level wizard apprentice learn?
However, he could also sense that the apprentice in front of him was not lying about this matter.
After a few seconds of silence, he suddenly asked:
"How much of the knowledge from the book have you memorized?"
Viktor dared not utter a word:
"I didn't learn much... but I memorized the whole book."
"Memorize it?"
Hearing this, Manugs was somewhat surprised, but then nodded, looking thoughtful.
"I see... Your rune talent seems pretty good."
"But if you're just a low-level wizard apprentice... it's impossible for you to learn how to use runes. Your actions will only damage that part and won't have any consequences."
He suddenly raised his hand, holding it horizontally in front of him. The silver ring on his middle finger flashed, and then a dusty gray stone slab appeared in his hand, with some patterns engraved on it:
"This is a runic tablet; it's yours from now on."
"If you want to study runes again, use this thing. Don't tamper with my parts."
After saying that, he stopped talking and turned to walk out of the laboratory building.
Viktor reached out and took the runestone tablet in his hand, somewhat bewildered, feeling a bit dizzy... So the other party just suddenly appeared, asked him a couple of questions, and that was it?
But his mentor's attitude just now was very ambiguous, and he couldn't figure out what the other person was thinking.
However, judging from the attitude with which the other party handed over the rune tablet in the end... the other party was probably not angry, but rather encouraging me to continue studying runes?
As he was pondering this, Viktor suddenly saw another flash before his eyes.
He snapped out of his daze, looked down at the rune tablet in his hand, and, unsurprisingly, found that it could indeed be equipped:
[Equipable item detected: Manug's Runestone Tablet]
