Chapter 58 Certification of Ming Jin Martial Master, Mountain-Crushing Force
Chapter 58 Certification of Ming Jin Martial Master, Mountain-Crushing Force
Once you've made a decision, don't procrastinate.
Fang Shuwen turned around and went to the mission area: "I've accepted the mission at Green Wolf Mountain."
The female receptionist raised her eyelids and glanced at him, her gaze lingering on his face for a moment before she lowered her head to move the abacus beads.
"Accept the mission? Show me your martial arts certification to register."
"Certification?"
"You don't have one? How can you accept a mission if you don't have one? Don't you know that only martial artists certified by the National Martial Arts Academy can accept bounty missions from the Academy?"
"That's what the female receptionist said."
"How do I get certified?"
"Go over there to fill out the form, then take the test."
The female receptionist pulled a form from under the counter and handed it to Fang Shuwen.
"Name, age, address, and martial arts lineage should all be clearly written down."
Fang Shuwen took the form, pulled a pen from the pen holder, and began filling it out quickly.
When he wrote the "Martial Arts Inheritance" section, his pen paused for a moment.
His martial arts skills were evolved through the interface, so I can't just write them down directly; doing so might cause trouble.
He thought for a moment, then picked up his pen and wrote down the two characters "family tradition".
Anyway, these days there are countless family-inherited martial arts techniques, and there's nowhere to find them.
After he finished writing, he handed the form to the receptionist.
The female receptionist took the form, glanced at it, said nothing, and got up to walk out from behind the counter.
"My name is Lin Wen, come with me."
Fang Shuwen followed him through the hall, pushed open the side door, and entered a corridor.
At the end of the corridor was an iron door; pushing it open revealed a small room.
In the center of the room stood a strange machine with an iron base, a steel column as thick as an arm standing on top, and a circular iron plate attached to the top of the column.
A string of copper weights hung next to the iron plate, the smallest weighing ten jin and the largest as big as a washbasin, with the words "five hundred jin" engraved on it.
"Testing strength."
Lin Wen pointed to the machine.
"The standard for Ming Jin is 800 jin (400 kg) with one arm. If you can lift it, you pass."
Fang Shuwen walked to the machine and reached out to grasp the handle on the edge of the iron plate.
He didn't rush to exert force; he first loosened his wrists.
Although he hadn't specifically tested his strength these past few days, he could feel it during his daily boxing practice that his strength had increased since his breakthrough.
1200 jin was the level when I first broke through; it should be even higher now.
However, 800 pounds is enough to pass the test, so there's no need to show your full strength right away.
Lifting 900 jin would be about right.
Fang Shuwen took a deep breath, twisted his waist and lowered his hips, and his spine suddenly sprang up.
A muffled roar exploded from within his body, and the power surged from his feet to his arms, lifting the iron plate off the ground.
Fang Shuwen lifted it above his head in one breath, his arm remaining completely still.
Lin Wen's eyelid twitched.
How come this young newcomer seems so fierce?
Instead of asking Fang Shuwen to put it down, she walked to the side of the machine and glanced down at the pointer.
"Nine hundred and twenty catties."
Only 920?
That didn't seem like it. I thought it was another genius who could break through 1200.
Lin Wen couldn't help but pat the towering peaks.
His expression returned to calm, and he spoke in a formulaic manner:
"That's enough, put it down."
Fang Shuwen slowly put down the iron plate, exhaled a breath of stale air, and followed Lin Wen.
After a while,
Lin Wen returned to the counter, pulled out a small blue notebook, wrote a few lines in it, and then took out a bronze seal from an iron box.
Press down hard on the small blue-covered notebook.
"From today onwards, you are a registered Ming Jin martial artist at the Xikou County Martial Arts Academy."
Lin Wen handed the notebook to Fang Shuwen.
"With this, you can enjoy the same treatment as a martial artist in Xikou County. You won't have to kneel before officials, your taxes will be halved, and you can carry weapons..."
"For each breakthrough in a realm, you can exchange for a martial art of the corresponding realm for free in the library."
Fang Shuwen put his ID in his pocket, preparing to accept the mission, when he heard what the other party said and immediately asked:
"Free martial arts training?"
"Yes." Lin Wen closed the booklet and pointed upstairs.
"The library is on the second floor. You can choose any martial art at the Ming Jin level, but you can only choose one."
Fang Shuwen nodded, and without wasting any time, turned around and walked towards the stairwell.
The second-floor corridor was much quieter than the first floor, with a dark red carpet on the floor and several yellowed paintings and calligraphy hanging on the walls.
At the end of the corridor is a double wooden door with a plaque above it that reads "Library Pavilion" in strong, vigorous strokes.
Fang Shuwen pushed open the door and entered, and a smell of paper, ink and old wood wafted towards him.
The room wasn't large; bookshelves lined three walls, stretching from the floor to the ceiling.
The bookshelves were neatly stacked with thread-bound books, some with labels on their spines bearing the names of the cultivation techniques.
In the center of the room was a long table with a green-shaded lamp on it. Under the lamp sat an elderly man wearing reading glasses, looking down and flipping through a yellowed booklet.
Hearing the noise, the old man raised his head, his gaze lingering for a moment on the brand-new bronze badge on Fang Shuwen's waist.
"Newly certified?"
"Yes." Fang Shuwen nodded.
"I heard that you can choose a martial art at the Ming Jin level for free."
The old man put down the booklet in his hand, took out a thick catalog from the drawer, and pushed it in front of Fang Shuwen.
"The Ming Jin level martial arts manuals are all on that bookshelf over there. Go and choose one yourself. Once you've chosen, come here to register. You can only take one."
Fang Shuwen thanked him and turned to walk towards the bookshelf.
He had thought there weren't many martial arts manuals at the Ming Jin level, but when he looked, there were at least a hundred on three whole walls.
He walked slowly along the bookshelves, his gaze sweeping over the labels one by one.
Red Sand Palm, Vajra Finger, Iron Mountain Palm, Flying Dragon Fist...
He had never even heard of most of these martial arts techniques.
"The Tengshe Fist is unpredictable and difficult to defend against, but it lacks power. We should find a fist technique that focuses on force to try."
........
after an hour,
Fang Shuwen has already looked at two sets of stances, including seven or eight styles of boxing techniques related to power.
But no matter how many times I looked at it, it still felt like something was missing.
"A fist technique that emphasizes power..."
Fang Shuwen murmured to himself and walked to the innermost row of bookshelves.
The books on this shelf are noticeably older than those outside; their spines are yellowed, and some even have their labels fallen off.
He bent down and started looking from the bottom.
Iron Arm Kung Fu, Copper Hammer Hand, Mighty Fist...
Suddenly, his gaze stopped.
In the far corner, a thin booklet leans against the bookshelf. The cover is so worn that the color is no longer visible, and only three words can be barely made out.
"Collapse Mountain Force"
Fang Shuwen reached out and pulled it out. It was heavy in his hand, the paper was yellowed and brittle, and the edges were curled up.
This is not a newly printed martial arts manual; it appears to be the original.
With these thoughts in mind, Fang Shuwen turned the pages of the book.
"When mastered, a single punch can shatter mountains and split rocks, hence the name 'Mountain-Shattering Power'..."
"This seems interesting?"
