Chapter 41 Digger
Chapter 41 Digger
Ronan re-entered the Cloak Forest.
He held a map of the cloaked forest in his hand, had a steel greatsword strapped to his back, and was wearing a cotton-padded coat.
Wearing armor would slow him down, and given his current physical condition, ordinary quality armor wouldn't be of much use to him, so he decided not to wear armor.
This also saved them the money they would have spent on buying armor.
He saw in the blacksmith shop that the armor was not cheap.
His boots trod on the sparse grass in the woodland without making a sound.
Because he used [Rock Leap], his body was as light as a feather.
After his cultivation level improved, he developed an extraordinary sensitivity to the cardinal directions. He didn't need a compass at all; he relied solely on his senses and followed the map to head towards the jackal's lair.
As I was walking, I suddenly heard a rustling sound in my ear.
Looking towards the source of the sound, they saw a raised mound of earth in the distance, moving toward them.
[Mengtou] didn't sense anything from him, so it seems the creature under the mound of earth poses no threat to him.
He swept his gaze across the mound of earth, and the shape of the creature beneath it immediately appeared in his mind.
This is a burrowing worm, one of the common monsters in the Cloakwood, with an average challenge level of 2.
Its excellent underground stealth ability, hard chitinous shell, and acid spraying skills have made it a nightmare for many low-level adventurers.
Some teams composed of adventurers below level 2 will likely be wiped out if they encounter this monster.
The burrowing worm in front of Ronan was rapidly approaching. Perhaps it had eaten too many adventurers, leading it to believe that humanoid creatures were all weaklings.
Ronan had no reason to refuse such an opportunity that was offered to him; his magic was already in his throat, held back.
As soon as the burrowing worm shows its head, it immediately spews out flames.
sand!
When the mound was within ten paces of Ronan, mud and sand suddenly splashed up, and a dark figure leaped out from it.
This creature resembled a giant praying mantis, with a reddish-brown chitinous exoskeleton covered in barbs, and sharp mandibles like two curved blades.
After emerging from the mound, the burrowing worm moved wildly, kicking up sand and mud, and rushed toward Ronan.
Its sharp jaws opened and closed repeatedly, and saliva flowed from its mouthparts.
Ronan opened his mouth and spat out a blazing flame that enveloped the burrowing worm.
The dark, cloak-covered forest suddenly brightened, and the surrounding temperature soared.
The burrowing worm, engulfed in flames, screeched and turned to flee, but its pace slowed, and it finally collapsed to the ground amidst the flames.
You burned a burrowing worm to death with "Flame Breath," gaining 450 XP.

Ronan extinguished the flames and saw the burrowing worms that had been roasted.
Wisps of smoke rose from the red corpse of the burrowing worm, emitting a meaty aroma.
rustling...
Just as Ronan was about to leave, he heard rustling sounds coming from the woods again.
Upon closer inspection, they saw a leopard and three wolves, approaching from different directions.
Those green-glowing eyes were fixed on the roasted corpse of the burrowing worm.
Ronan ignored him and left.
Once Ronan had completely disappeared from sight, the leopard and the wolf took off running towards the burrowing worm's corpse.
……
Ronan looked at the map and knew he was getting closer and closer to the gnoll's lair.
According to the map's scale, there should still be about three kilometers left.
As they were walking, they suddenly heard a commotion coming from behind them.
Ronan immediately used the [Rock Leap] technique, leaping onto a thick tree branch.
He looked down and soon saw seven gnolls carrying about a dozen bound humans, driving three carriages as they passed below.
Ronan stared intently at the dozen or so humans.
There are eight ordinary people and four professionals.
These four professionals—three warriors and one wanderer—form a typical adventurer team composition.
In terms of adventurer team composition, the best setup is of course a warrior-mage-priest combination, but that's an ideal situation.
Many adventurer teams consist of four warriors.
This team has one wanderer, which is quite good.
After all, wanderers can do things like setting traps, finding traps, and stealing, and they are flexible in combat, which can complement the entire warrior lineup.
In this adventure team, the three warriors have only undergone combat training and have not yet reached level 1.
The Wanderer, on the other hand, is a halfling who has reached level 1.
No wonder this adventurer team couldn't defeat this group of gnolls.
Ronan was somewhat puzzled that the gnolls didn't kill them.
It is said that gnolls, as creations of the demon lord Yenogu, are inherently ferocious and bloodthirsty beings.
The gnolls only captured these people without killing them; it's unclear whether they had other plans.
Ronan pondered for a moment, then focused his mind and used his magic to summon the steel greatsword from its sheath.
After the [Demon Slayer] Dao technique was applied to the sword, a faint blood-red light shone on it.
The average intelligence of gnoll minions is 6. Although they are not very smart, they are still considered to have some intelligence.
The [Demon Slayer] technique should be effective against gnolls.
Ronan's heart skipped a beat, and the steel greatsword flew rapidly downwards.
brush!
With the help of gravity, the steel-cast greatsword flew even faster.
The next moment, a black shadow formed by a steel greatsword slashed across the head of a jackal driving a car.
Blood splattered everywhere, and half of the jackal's head was instantly gone.
His entire body fell off the carriage.
Information immediately appeared in Ronan's mind.

After this attack, the horses pulling the cart were immediately startled and galloped through the woods.
The other gnolls were just as frightened as the horses.
The gnolls who were driving the carriage immediately jumped off.
The gnolls who were originally carrying the humans also abandoned them.
They all picked up the flails that were originally hanging at their waists, and their pairs of emerald green eyes stared intently at Ronan's steel greatsword.
Ronan wielded his steel greatsword, spun in the air, and then thrust it at another gnoll.
The gnoll bared its sharp teeth, its face extremely ferocious, and brandished its flail, fiercely striking at the steel greatsword!
call!
The flail rippled through the air, making a whistling sound.
However, the shot missed.
As the flail fell, Ronan's steel greatsword had already pierced the gnoll's head.
The steel greatsword continued its momentum, just as before, slicing off half of the jackal's head.

The blood splattered from the gnoll's half-headed head landed on the face of the half-human wanderer.
But the halfling showed no discomfort; instead, his face displayed a look of surprise.
