Chapter 156 Above the Moon
Chapter 156 Above the Moon
Chapter 156 Above the Moon
Joey, who had been kicked out of the window by Tony, remained suspended in mid-air, floating all the way towards Queens.
It's Christmas now, and Joey certainly can't just stay overnight at someone else's house.
The core of the Amozzo robot is still in Joey's hands, and the more he thinks about the future, the more confused he becomes.
Why don't the Fantastic Four recognize themselves? And how did Tony Stark transform into a cold-blooded conqueror in the future?
If they existed in the present, which is their "past," for a year, there is no reason why no one would remember them.
Both Joey and Superman had already revealed their two forms to each other, and the four people treated them like complete strangers.
However, since they had already forgotten who Doctor Doom was under the influence of the magic spell, it wouldn't be surprising if they forgot themselves as well.
The multiverse itself represents infinite possibilities, and anything is possible. It is not surprising that a Doctor Doom with the power to overwhelm the entire multiverse would appear.
Joey simply can't accept that such a supervillain appeared because of him.
If saving one's own universe leads to the annihilation of many other universes, then what kind of person would one become?
And now he has a chance to save those universes of the future.
This was because Mr. Fantastic had given him a suggestion about the core of the Amozzo robot before he left.
First, in order to prevent the paradox from leading to an even worse future, and for the sake of Joey's own world, the Amodro robot must be created.
Therefore, Joey still intends to hand over the Amozzo core and related technologies to Tony Stark, who is currently Iron Man.
Secondly, the future Fantastic Four and the surviving heroes would be suicidal in challenging Doctor Doom and his near-perfect Amozzo robot army, a move that would inevitably be doomed to failure.
But what if the Amozzo robot itself isn't perfect?
With his brilliant mind, Mr. Fantastic designed an algorithm and a backdoor program at the last moment before he left.
This algorithm is extremely secretive. If Joey were to refine it slightly and then embed it into the core of the Amozzo robot from the beginning, almost no one would be able to detect its existence.
It will remain hidden until the time when the Fantastic Four will finally face Doctor Doom in the future.
Reed will then activate this backdoor to paralyze the entire Amozzo robot network, giving the future resistance forces, who would otherwise be doomed, a glimmer of hope.
They will have the opportunity to break through the army of Amodro and face Dr. Doom alone.
Yang Yi was unsure whether she should do it.
Joey twirled the bouquet of vibranium roses in his hand, and the sound produced by the high-altitude airflow was even deeper and more captivating than when Tony had just demonstrated it.
He recalled Tony's reassuring words and his promise to save his universe.
He has absolutely no idea what to do.
Forget it.
Joey could only put this troublesome matter aside for the time being, since it was something that would happen in the 'future,' and he had plenty of time to think about it before that future arrived.
Why didn't he do what Tony did and choose to have a wonderful and joyful Christmas Eve first?
Even though he and that alien girl were truly strangers in a foreign land and couldn't understand the meaning of Christmas itself, as mentioned before, it's always good to have some fun on such a day.
When Joey looked away to search for Spark, he found the silly girl still imitating him, fiddling with those artificial diamonds. If she kept doing that...
Ah, speak of the devil and he appears.
Spark, who had just sold two large diamonds from the underground black market, had only just stepped out of the bar where the black market was located when he was ambushed from both sides by a group of armed gang members in the alley behind the back door.
"Hey, what's in your bag, little girl?"
The fast-paced, rap-like vocals, the wobbly gait and posture, the unintelligible tattoos and pendant symbols...
Wearing only low-cut jeans that were almost pulled down below the knee...
Observing these gang members from dozens of kilometers away, Joey couldn't help but sigh that although everything was changing, the criminal elements in this land were still the same as he was familiar with.
These gangs, rooted in fringe communities, are less organized and disciplined, and in some ways, more troublesome than the Gotham City mafia who deal with Batman all the time.
Like Jack White, the Gotham casino cleaner Bruce encountered before, an ordinary person entangled with the Maroney family and other mafia organizations.
After a powerful figure like the Penguin spoke on behalf of a key member of the other family, everyone in Maroni would naturally keep their distance from the janitor.
However, if it were a gang like the Tumor Gang or the Blood Gang, which grows wildly, unorganized, undisciplined, and decentralized within minority communities, that would be a completely different story.
These gangs often pull out guns and shoot each other, killing one another, simply because they see the other wearing a different colored headband or jacket, or making a wrong gesture.
There is no powerful figure who can command them with absolute authority.
Once ordinary people in the community get entangled with this, it's like a bone-deep infection; they can't escape it even until death.
Fortunately, Xinghuo was no ordinary person either.
Slightly lowering her sunglasses and pushing up her wide-brimmed sun hat, Xinghuo looked up at the sky:
"Please, your girlfriend is being robbed at gunpoint, and you're just standing there watching?!"
A red cloak descended from the sky, its gaze sweeping over the faces of the gangsters present:
"Guess which beach darlings will be spending Christmas in jail this year?"
"run!"
At the command of the gang leader, the previously aggressive gang members scattered like birds and beasts, fleeing in different directions.
They're not stupid. This guy punched a rooftop in most of Queens, New York, yesterday, turning it into a bloody mess. Surely no one thinks a few gangsters can handle such a tough guy, right?
He blew two breaths in the direction the men were running, and solid ice appeared out of thin air, freezing their trouser legs and immobilizing the robbers who were trying to escape.
After borrowing their phones to dial 901, Joey carried Starfire, who was unwilling to reveal its true form and fly, away from the alleyway, a high-risk area in every sense of the word, in a princess carry.
Looking down at the New York City skyline under the moonlight, Joey, still preoccupied, chose to focus her attention on other things for the time being:
"Where's my reward for saving the damsel in distress?"
"How about this reward in front of you?"
Taking the vibranium rose from Joey, Starfire giggled at Joey's request, then looked up and kissed him with a smile:
"As a reward for 'saving' me and giving me a bouquet of magical flowers, you can come here to claim your reward anytime and anywhere~"
Upon hearing this, Joey immediately prepared to resort to violence: "You said it yourself!"
"No!"
Sensing the rapidly escalating tension between them, Xinghuo immediately regretted her actions and slapped away Joey's restless hand.
"Joey, not here!"
She is clearly not open enough to express her love under the moonlight, above New York City.
After being rejected, Joey grabbed Starfire's waist and began to rise into the air, flying in the opposite direction of the moonlight:
"If it doesn't work below the moon, let's go above it!"
