Chapter 114 Night Talk
Chapter 114 Night Talk
Yu Heng has been quite busy this past week.
We rented the house and bought some equipment.
The two sets of used computer, sound card, and microphone cost less than 10,000 yuan in total.
Zhou Mengqi and Wang Luyu have also started broadcasting. The background of Douyin now is not much different from that of a few years later, but the policies are much better now.
The new guild offers a maximum rebate of 32%, and the conditions for achieving this are not as stringent as they would be a few years later.
If the guild pays the streamer 35% of the earnings, the guild will earn more than the streamer.
However, after two or three days of broadcasting, the two of them didn't see much improvement.
They themselves were quite satisfied, each overjoyed to receive gifts worth several hundred yuan.
Yu Heng goes to the villa there every day to review the proceedings, hold small meetings, and tell them how to broadcast.
They played two more games this week, which weren't easy, but unsurprisingly, Yu Heng's team won both.
This allowed them to advance to the finals with consecutive wins. The finals are scheduled for next Monday afternoon, and there is also training over the weekend, which Yu Heng also has to participate in.
My schedule is a bit busy, and I don't have much energy to deal with other things. There hasn't been much progress in training Bai Xinran this week.
Qin Lu hasn't contacted Yu Heng much this week, and Lin Liyan seems to be quiet for the time being as well. Yu Heng didn't ask, since nothing bad is likely to happen in this situation.
-
At 10 p.m. on Friday, Yu Heng returned from the newly rented villa.
Bai Xinran's live stream had just ended, and she was sitting on the sofa in the living room wearing her oversized T-shirt.
A sketchbook lay open on her lap. She looked up when she heard the door open and said, "You're back."
"Hmm." Yu Heng changed his shoes, walked to the other side of the sofa and sat down, glancing at the notebook in her hand. "What are you drawing?"
"Practice your techniques," Bai Xinran said, closing the notebook and setting it aside. "You seem to be very busy this week."
Her tone was flat, not a complaint but a statement. Yu Heng leaned back on the sofa and let out a long sigh.
"A little." He turned to look at her. "I seem to have neglected you a bit this week?"
Bai Xinran pursed her lips and remained silent.
Yu Heng smiled, reached out, and touched her earlobe with his fingertips.
Then he ruffled her hair, and Bai Xinran tilted her head and rubbed against him, like a docile puppy.
She has changed a lot in the past two weeks, becoming somewhat unfamiliar to herself. She never thought she would have this side to herself.
If someone were to rub her head like that, she would have already raised her hand and pushed them away in the past, but now she took the initiative to rub against them, just wanting them to rub her head a little longer.
She was a tomboy since she was little, playing the same games that boys liked to play, and her speech and behavior were unrestrained and straightforward.
What now?
Her short hair has grown quite a bit; she hasn't cut it in a long time. She thinks it looks pretty good, and she even wants to try wearing a dress.
Thinking this, her eyes began to glaze over. Yu Heng smiled and pulled her into his arms.
The living room was lit only by a floor lamp, the light was dim and warm, and the atmosphere was perfect.
He gently stroked the person in his arms and asked softly, "Have you thought about this this past week?"
"What are you thinking about?"
"Think about what I said," his voice lowered, "Do you want to understand me better now?"
"I've been thinking about it," Bai Xinran buried her face in his chest, "I've been thinking about it ever since that night."
Yu Heng reached out and lifted her chin: "So, what's your thought?"
Bai Xinran looked into his eyes, her eyelashes trembling.
"I don't think I know you very well..." she said, "but I want to know more. I can't say I don't understand, but I feel very secure around you."
"When did you start thinking that way?" Yu Heng asked.
"From..." Bai Xinran thought for a moment, "From the night you took me to the hospital?"
Yu Heng rubbed her chin with his thumb: "And then?"
"Then later, when you told me that you started out in the industry, I felt that you had a lot of potential for advancement, at least you were much more normal than the people I had met before."
"The one you encountered before?" Yu Heng narrowed his eyes.
"I've joined some online groups too, and the guys in them are all ridiculous. They're not only arrogant and rude, but they also have very low emotional intelligence. All they do is tell cheesy jokes and add me privately asking if I'm taken, like they're sick in the head."
"That's normal," Yu Heng said. "Good subordinates and good superiors don't circulate. Ninety percent of those who chat in the group every day definitely don't have partners. There must be a reason why they don't."
"How could they possibly be like that?" Bai Xinran complained.
"You can't say that. Growth requires experience and a process, but it certainly doesn't have to be the price these people pay for growing up, haha." Yu Heng smiled and said, "But you have quite the sharp tongue."
Bai Xinran pouted: "That's true, it's just that they seem to mistake vulgarity for humor and a lack of boundaries for wit."
"I don't do that?" Yu Heng raised an eyebrow. "Didn't I always joke with you before?"
“It’s different,” Bai Xinran said. “We’re face to face, and we know each other. Also, I feel that you understand me very well and I can learn something from you. Those people haven’t even exchanged a few words with you, but they’re already acting like they’re in a superior position.”
"Actually, the same goes for the lower class," Yu Heng said with a smile. "There are quite a few abstract lower classes too. Those who lack love come to the circle to find love, those with Yu Yu syndrome come to the circle to find salvation, and there are even mentally ill people who come to the circle to pretend to be brats, and they even bite the fingers of rope masters and damage their nerves."
"Huh?" Bai Xinran looked up. "That's outrageous?"
"Haha, yes!" Yu Heng said with a smile, "So, theoretical knowledge is still useful, but it also depends on the original intention. People with impure motives will not experience the culture even if they learn the theory. The theory will only be a tool for them to achieve their goals."
"Ugh, it feels so complicated," Bai Xinran frowned, "but I feel even more lucky to have met you."
"I'm so lucky to have met you," Yu Heng said, ruffling her hair. "You're the most talented person I've ever met!"
"Really?" Bai Xinran was moved by Yu Heng's praise.
"Because most subordinates don't have your level of awareness. Many people, even if they are very obedient, still prioritize their own interests. Their obedience can bring them positive feedback from their superiors or the reactions they want. But you are different. You simply believe that obedience is your duty, and the pleasure of being in a superior position is your pleasure."
"It seems so?" Bai Xinran was a little confused. "It's a bit complicated..."
"It's okay, there's plenty of time in the future, you'll figure it out slowly."
"Okay! Will you still be busy tomorrow?"
Yu Heng looked at her.
"I have training this afternoon," he said. "I should be free tonight."
Bai Xinran's eyes curved into a smile: "Then I'll wait for you tomorrow night."
She spoke in a soft voice, with a hint of tentative flattery.
"Okay." Yu Heng released her, meaning the conversation was over.
"Then I'm going to take a shower!" Bai Xinran understood, got up, and went into the bathroom.
Yu Heng sat in the living room for a while longer.
He took out his phone and glanced at WeChat.
Did Zhou Mengqi send a message?
He opened it; it was a photo she had sent him.
The photo shows her wearing a sundress and taking a picture in front of a mirror; the fabric is rather revealing.
He added a line: "President, how's this outfit? Can I wear it for the live stream?"
Yu Heng stared at the photo, his finger hovering over the screen for a few seconds.
He replied, "Sure, but be careful about the camera angle."
Zhou Mengqi replied almost instantly: "Okay~ I'll wear this for tomorrow's live stream, thank you, boss!"
Yu Heng narrowed his eyes and didn't reply.
