Chapter 156 Doing Work
Chapter 156 Doing Work
Zhou Mengqi sat back down in her seat with a smile, picked up her chopsticks and took a piece of Sichuan-style chicken.
She chewed slowly, glancing at Yu Heng out of the corner of her eye, pondering which set of underwear to wear that evening.
I haven't opened the black lace set I bought last time, so I'll use it tonight.
I've been taking the medicine for two weeks, so I should be fine now. I don't need to wear it today.
Ning Yutong and Shen Yueling were still chatting. Yu Heng leaned back in his chair with his left hand on his lap. The tablecloth was long and hung down, covering most of his view.
He watched Zhou Mengqi and Wang Luyu talking, but his hand slowly moved to the left, his palm resting on the outside of her thigh.
Ning Yutong pursed her lips and poked at the bowl with her chopsticks. She dared not move, afraid that Shen Yueling would notice if she made a big movement.
Remembering what happened in the car, she instinctively tightened her legs a little.
"Yutong?" Shen Yueling called to her.
"Huh?" Ning Yutong came back to her senses.
"You're holding your chopsticks upside down," Shen Yueling said.
Ning Yutong looked down and saw that she was using the thicker end of her chopsticks to pick up food.
She quickly turned over; her face felt a little hot.
Yu Heng tapped her leg lightly with his fingers, as if he were tapping a rhythm.
Bai Xinran got up to pour tea for everyone. When she walked to Ning Yutong's side, Ning Yutong was ramrod straight.
After pouring the tea, Bai Xinran glanced at the vague outline under the tablecloth, said nothing, and continued to pour tea for Shen Yueling.
Yu Heng withdrew his hand and took a tissue to wipe his mouth.
Ning Yutong breathed a sigh of relief, but felt a little empty inside.
She picked up the cup and took a sip of tea. The water was a little hot, and her tongue went numb for a moment.
-
The dinner party is almost over.
Zhou Mengqi picked up her bag, winked at Yu Heng, and pulled Wang Luyu away first.
Ning Yutong was putting on her coat at the door when Shen Yueling walked over and helped her straighten her scarf.
After Yu Heng finished paying the bill, Shen Yueling and Bai Xinran were waiting for him in the corridor.
The others also left in twos and threes.
"You two go back first," Yu Heng said, looking at the two of them. "I'm not going back to the villa tonight."
Shen Yueling, who was pulling down her zipper, stopped and looked up at him: "Where are you going?"
"Something came up." Yu Heng put his hands in his pockets.
"What is it?" Shen Yueling stared at his face.
"It's work-related," Yu Heng said casually, "I was discussing the script for the next episode with Zhou Mengqi."
"Discuss the script? It's the middle of the night," Shen Yueling's lips twitched slightly, "How about we discuss it in bed?"
"In-depth communication is essential for generating inspiration!" Yu Heng said with a smile.
"Go wherever you want!" Shen Yueling rolled her eyes at him.
"You can invite Yutong along," Yu Heng continued, "We can stay at the villa together, there are plenty of rooms anyway."
"Should we call Yutong?" Shen Yueling looked up at him, seeing right through his thoughts. "Do we have to do your work?"
"I didn't say that," Yu Heng laughed. "I just thought you two had a good relationship and should spend more time together."
"Go ahead," Shen Yueling said, turning her face to look out the window. "I'll ask her in a bit; whether she goes or not is up to her."
Ning Yutong came out of the restroom and saw the three of them standing in the corridor, so she slowed down.
"Yutong," Shen Yueling called to her, "Are you busy tonight?"
"Huh?" Ning Yutong was taken aback. "Nothing... what's wrong?"
"Let's go stay at the villa," Shen Yueling said. "Yu Heng won't be back tonight."
Ning Yutong subconsciously looked at Yu Heng.
Yu Heng nodded to her: "Go ahead, the three of you can keep each other company."
Ning Yutong pursed her lips and remained silent.
Shen Yueling looked at her: "Are you going or not?"
"I..." Ning Yutong twisted the end of her scarf with her fingers, "I didn't bring any spare clothes..."
"Wear mine," Shen Yueling said. "I have new ones."
Ning Yutong glanced at Yu Heng again.
Yu Heng had already turned and walked out: "I'm leaving. Be careful on your way."
Shen Yueling stared at his back until he pushed open the glass door of the restaurant and disappeared into the night.
"Sister Yue Ling," Bai Xinran whispered, "Shall we go?"
"Let's go." Shen Yueling picked up her bag. "Let's go back!"
The three walked side by side toward the villa, with Shen Yueling in the middle, pondering how they should talk that evening.
Bai Xinran walked quietly, wondering if her master would have a great time tonight.
Ning Yutong lowered her head, wondering if today might be an opportunity to have a frank conversation with Shen Yueling.
She hadn't been ignoring Shen Yueling on purpose these past few days; she just hadn't figured out how to deal with the relationship yet.
If Shen Yueling didn't like Yu Heng, she could treat him like a regular best friend, confide in him, or even seek comfort from him.
But they are not so ordinary.
While waiting at the intersection for the light to turn red, Shen Yueling suddenly spoke up: "Yutong."
"Hmm?" Ning Yutong looked up.
"That's just how Yu Heng is," Shen Yueling said, watching the red light numbers flash across the street. "You'll get used to it."
Ning Yutong's ears felt a little hot, and she whispered, "Yueling, I..."
"It's nothing," Shen Yue interrupted her, "no need to explain."
The green light came on, and the three people crossed the road.
Upon arriving at the villa, Shen Yueling took out her key and opened the door.
The room was very warm; as soon as you entered, you could feel the heat.
"Sit wherever you like," Shen Yueling said, taking off her coat and hanging it on the hanger. "Ah Ling, could you please boil some water to make some tea?"
"Okay," Bai Xinran replied and walked towards the kitchen.
Ning Yutong stood in the living room, looking a little reserved.
This wasn't her first time here, but this time it felt different.
Before, Yu Heng was there, but now there are only the three girls, and she has a vague feeling that she is the only one who is different.
"Sit down," Shen Yueling said, sitting down on the sofa and patting the spot next to her. "Why are you standing?"
Ning Yutong walked over and sat down, placing her hands on her knees.
Bai Xinran brought over a teapot and cups and poured a cup for everyone.
Shen Yueling picked up her teacup, blew on it, took a small sip, then put the cup down and looked at Ning Yutong.
"Yutong," she said, "we've known each other for so many years."
Ning Yutong nodded: "Mm."
"So no matter what," Shen Yueling said calmly, "our relationship will not change."
Ning Yutong pursed her lips and remained silent.
"We haven't had an open conversation before," Shen Yueling smiled, "We both like Yu Heng."
"I..." Ning Yutong began, "I've already been rejected."
"I know," Shen Yueling said. "What she said to you, she actually told me a long time ago."
"Hmm?" Ning Yutong looked up. "So you can accept that?"
"Yes," Shen Yueling nodded, "I accept it, but whether you accept it or not is your choice. Don't let this affect us."
"I know..." she said softly, "I just... can't control myself, I think about..."
I will miss him, I will want to be with him, even though he rejected me and I said I wouldn't bother him.
But every time I think of him, I still have this thought.
"I know, I couldn't control myself either." Shen Yueling was silent for a few seconds, "So I accepted it. I don't feel wronged at all; on the contrary, I found it quite interesting."
These words were spoken so frankly that Ning Yutong looked up at her.
The two girls looked at each other, then looked away.
Bai Xinran stood up: "I'll go boil some more water."
She went into the kitchen, leaving the space to Shen Yueling and Ning Yutong.
