Chapter 8 Flying Sword Slays Earth Armor Bear
Chapter 8 Flying Sword Slays Earth Armor Bear
As the villagers' spear formation faltered, the brown bear pounced into the crowd, its claws instantly pinning down a villager.
The brown bear was incredibly strong. The villagers, who had been pinned down, desperately punched and kicked it, but they couldn't budge it an inch.
It opened its blood-red maw and bit down, and all that could be heard was a scream mixed with the sound of bones breaking.
The brown bear tore at the villager's chest, ripping out a hole from which blood spurted.
This scene terrified the surrounding villagers. They turned pale and were so frightened that they wanted to run away as fast as they could.
In situations like this, you don't need to run faster than the brown bear, you just need to be faster than your teammates.
A large group of villagers dispersed in the blink of an eye.
After killing the villager beneath it, the brown bear was not satisfied and immediately chased after the second villager.
It looked like the second victim was about to appear.
Lin Er suddenly appeared behind the brown bear, holding a bamboo sword.
He just observed it carefully.
Brown bears have a thick layer of armor covering their backs and heads, but the armor on their limbs and bellies is relatively thin.
However, the limbs are not vital points, and the abdomen is difficult to attack.
Lin Er took the opportunity to circle around to the back of the brown bear, but unfortunately, there was also a layer of earth armor on its rear end. He could try to stab it, but the damage would probably not be too great.
After all, the villagers had just tried to poke it with more than a dozen spears, but the earth beetle blocked them all and didn't cause it much damage.
Seeing that the villagers were about to be attacked, Lin Er did not hesitate any longer.
He swung his sword at the brown bear's hind legs.
With a clang, the impact pierced through the thin earthen armor, leaving a bloody gash.
Lin Er felt that he had cut into bone, and the hard resistance came from the blade.
The brown bear's massive body suddenly stopped, and it almost fell to the ground.
It let out an extremely loud scream that echoed across the fields.
The brown bear struggled to steady its limbs and turned its head.
It stared at Lin Er, its bear eyes filled with bloodlust, already bloodshot.
It was filled with murderous intent.
Although Lin Er didn't have any special skills, his body had undergone marrow cleansing, making him exceptionally strong.
This sword strike did indeed injure the brown bear.
It's purely numerical; there's no user interaction whatsoever.
When Lin Er saw the brown bear turn its head, his breath caught in his throat. He knew he couldn't confront it head-on. Stealing a sword from it was already a huge gain, so he turned and left.
Without hesitation, the brown bear gave chase.
It had an injured hind leg, causing it to limp as it ran, but its speed was not slow when it was enraged.
Lin Er was slightly surprised, but not too flustered.
He maintained a safe distance of about ten meters from the brown bear, leading it along the country lanes and heading straight out of the village.
This wasn't the first time he'd been chased by a bear.
Lin Er had a strange sense of familiarity, but he didn't dare to be careless.
One person and one bear, one in front and one behind.
Lin Er ran all the way, pulling the brown bear behind him for a full half kilometer.
He looked ahead and saw that he had entered an oak forest. There was no one around and no villagers were chasing after him.
After such a fierce chase, the brown bear's energy was depleted, and its speed slowed down.
Seeing this, Lin Er became even more calm, stopped in his tracks, and stared at the brown bear head-on.
Actually, calling it a brown bear isn't quite right. It's covered in earth armor, and Burns just said that its strength has reached level 1, so it should be called a level 1 earth armor bear.
When Tu Jia Xiong saw Lin Er suddenly stop, he assumed that Lin Er had run out of strength, so he mustered all his strength and did not test him.
The earth-armored bear pounced on him, intending to kill him.
Lin Er was prepared and drew his bamboo sword.
The bamboo sword flew out, streaking across the sky like a green light, heading straight for the Earth Armor Bear's vital points.
The earth-armored bear was greatly alarmed. As an animal, it reacted very quickly, lowering its head and crouching down to avoid the attack, using the earthen armor on its head to defend itself.
With a clang, earth and stones flew everywhere, accompanied by sparks.
A sword mark was left on the earthen armor on the bear's neck, revealing the mane underneath, which was split open and bleeding.
"This earth-armored bear is really tough and thick-skinned; its earth armor is almost as hard as steel."
Lin Er was somewhat surprised and secretly thought it was a pity.
Without the protection of its earth armor, this sword strike could sever its head.
After the Earth Armor Bear recovered from its pain, it summoned an earth elemental, and the sword wounds on its armor were quickly repaired.
This time, the earth-armored bear became more cautious, approaching unhurriedly.
Lin Er retreated repeatedly, continuing to observe the Earth Armor Bear's weaknesses, and said:
"Since the armor on your back is too tough, I'll just cut off your limbs first!"
He didn't believe that the limbs of the earth bear were so hard.
When the Earth Armor Bear came within three meters, Lin Er instantly activated his bamboo sword.
A green sword light flashed past.
The earth-armored bear tried to hide.
But it was too fast.
With a soft "pfft".
One of the bear's forelimbs flew off, gushing out a large amount of blood, and it lost its balance and fell to the ground.
Lin Er continued to urge the bamboo sword on, launching a second attack.
Another forelimb was severed, and the earth-armored bear collapsed to the ground, completely unable to move.
"This earth-armored bear is still too clumsy; it can't dodge the flying swords at all."
Lin Er stopped sighing and used his flying sword to deliver the final blow to the earth-armored bear, piercing its eye and head with the tip of the sword.
This huge creature was completely silent after that.
Lin Er sheathed his bamboo sword and wiped the cold sweat from his face.
He had been so focused on activating his flying sword that he hadn't paid any attention to the consumption of his spiritual energy. After just a few strikes, he found that his dantian was almost empty.
Oh no, my spiritual energy!
Lin Er couldn't help but feel annoyed. The more exhilarating it was to kill the bear, the more severe the depletion of his spiritual energy would be now.
You should know that spiritual energy is extremely precious to him and difficult to replenish.
But now is not the time to consider that.
Lin Er looked up out of the oak forest and saw Burns leading seven or eight villagers, armed with spears and bows and arrows, cautiously making their way towards them.
"I didn't expect these villagers to still dare to come. It seems that not everyone has been scared out of their wits."
Lin Er quickly raised his hand to greet Burns. The villagers breathed a sigh of relief after seeing the bear carcass, put down their weapons, and came over.
Burns looked at him with admiration and said, "Young man, you are really amazing. You actually killed this earth-armored bear all by yourself."
The other villagers echoed this sentiment, their eyes filled with admiration.
Lin Er waved his hand and said, "I also fought while running, slowly wearing it down."
Anyway, that scourge is finally dead.
The villagers volunteered to help, finding sticks and ropes, and together they carried the bear carcass back.
Lin Er wanted to help, but Burns and the villagers thought he was a great hero and that he didn't need to do such a small thing.
He had no choice but to give up.
The group walked out of the oak forest in a grand procession and soon returned to the village.
Some villagers were guarding the village entrance. When they saw that the villagers were carrying the bear carcass back, they shouted for the villagers to come out and stop worrying.
Many people, upon learning that Lin Er had single-handedly killed the Earth Armor Bear, turned to look at him.
Suddenly, Lin Er became the center of attention, showered with praise.
If he hadn't intervened, who knows how many more villagers would have died.
Just then.
An untimely cry rang out; though not loud, it sounded particularly jarring amidst the laughter and chatter.
